Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Dual Head Video Card
|Kayura|   2002-10-06 14:34
Hello,
I just bought myself a new MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb. Before this card, I was running a GF2, and a second PCI card for my two monitors. My new Gf4 runs very slow with the PCI video card in there as well, so I have to take it out. My only solution is to run my second monitor off the second head of my GF4.

My question is, does Ultramon have support for that? The drivers I'm running for my Gf4 are the Detonator 40.xx drivers which have Nview, but Nview makes my second display all wrong. Also, Ultramon can't see my second monitor unless Nview is enabled. So I'm not sure what to do here. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks,
-Kayura

You'll have to use independent displays mode, UltraMon relies on the operating system for information about available displays.

Did you try non-beta drivers, for example 30.82?

This is similar to the problem I'm having. The 30.82 driver doesn't help. In my case, ANY nVidia driver with the nView feature screws up the display on my second monitor, with or without Ultramon installed.

I'm trying to decide if I should try the Radeon Pro 9700 dualhead card instead.

Has anyone had good experience, or bad, with this card?

Im also haveing this problem in windows 2000, with a "dual head visiontek geforce 4 mx440" thing is it worked before I formated I had xp installed... but was gettin sick of some of the crashes that I had decided were being cause by xp, so decided to put 2000 back on. so I installed the newest 30.82 driver and nview seems to be causing the probmes... its like its telling the system there is only one monitor when there are 2... just started working on this like 30 minutes ago.. probley figger it out in the next couple days. Ill try and post an update on eather or not I jsut give up and bo back to xp or some thing. any other ideas would be great.

and after an half hour of fiddling after I woke up I was able to find it.

display properties=> advanced=> (tab) geforce mx 440 => additional properties => (tab) desktop utilities => (check box) "treat mulitple outputs on an nView cable board as separate display devices."

this is for my system... so where It has geforce mx 440 you will be lookin for the name of your card... try that out see if it works... I had to set my display settings lower the cause my system booting to logon screen and was geettin scan out of rage... so b4 you cahnge the setting be sure to have the resolution det lowere like 1024 or some thing will avoide a couple reboots in to safe mode and the likes...

I might be reinstalling xp cause I liked how it treated the multimon better... but Im going to give this a chance and see how it goes...

I'm having a heck of a time with the same issue. I've got an MX440, and it worked forever with older Nvidia drivers. Now, with the new Detonator 4 drivers it things there's only one monitor. On my system it has 6.13.10.4072 for the versions of the drivers in the GeForce4 MX 440 tab. BUT, the Additional Properties button is GRAYED OUT!!

Could you help me out and export your NVIDIA registry section so I can see what settings are changed by this mystery checkbox?

Here's mine----
