Hi
I am enjoying using Ultra Mon, particularly the latest upgrade.
A question though. On my monitors, the little title bar icons keep flashing on an off on mouseover, making it difficult at first press to be sure which one I am pressing. Are they supposed to flash? Is there any way of making them appear permanantly on the active title bar rather than flashing?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you using WindowBlinds?

Hi
No, not using windowsblinds.
but I am using a 'date' programme which puts the date and time in the task bar?
Could that be the culprit?
Its called windate:

Make sure you have installed 2.0 RC1 or RC2, button redrawing has been optimized in RC1.
Buttons might still flash when using WinDate, UltraMon will redraw the buttons when the window caption changes.

As a workaround, you could use a time format without seconds (for example H:m), this will reduce the number of button redraws.

Hi
It is already without seconds.
If I point my mouse at the 'blank' area where the buttons should be, they flicker on and off?
It is a bit of a game 'catching' the ones when they are 'on' so I can click them?
Are they supposed to be invisible until a mouse points over them, then flick on and off?

The buttons should always be visible, so far I've only seen this problem with WindowBlinds.
Please let me know - what operating system you are using - if Windows XP, which theme (visual style) - what other applications are running. You can mail me a screenshot of Task Manager > Processes

Hi
Many thanks for your work on this and your observation that windate and its seconds refresh are causing the problem. Yes, I have taken windate off and the buttons work fine.
I tried several alternatives to windate as I do like to have the date and time very visible in the title bar when I work. Unfortunately, nearly all of them occupy exactly the same space as the buttons because they are right aligned and designed to occupy the same space as the ultradev buttons, so the same problem occurs even if they are not refreshing every second.
It seems it isn't just the 'seconds' refreshing that can cause the problem, but any programme that occupies the same space as the ultramon buttons? There are quite a few on the market that do that.
It does look as if nothing else can really run in the title bar if Ultramon is running?
I have disabled the ultramon buttons and will rely on a hotkey to switch screens instead.
Again, thanks for your hard work. I trust your response will be posted on the website?
best wishes

Not really. For example you could use both nView and UltraMon custom window buttons, but you will need to configure the position of the UltraMon buttons: Options > Window Title Bar, custom spacing.
The problem is that there is no way to tell other applications that there are additional window buttons present.
This means that applications need to be designed with interoperability in mind, and shouldn't assume that only the standard window buttons are present.
