The first release candidate of UltraMon 2.0 has been released, with lots of bug fixes and improvements. Download here, make sure to read the release notes before installing.
Looking forward to your feedback,

The first time I tried to install, it aborted the install with an error (it didn't tell me why). Now I get a network error trying to install again (even though I'm installing from my desktop). I don't know if I'm using the new version or not now and my registration code has been removed.

Are you using Windows 2000? Make sure you have removed the previous version as described in the release notes.
You might get a setup error if the mirror driver hasn't been removed completely.

Using Windows XP. Okay, after several attempts I was able to install the new version. I have, however, lost my registration. I'm now back to using the shareware version.

Just enter your registration code again (UltraMon menu > About). I have e-mailed your registration information to jfencl at adaweb.net.

"Known issues
* after Show Desktop, activating a window may activate additional windows"
Just to tell you that it's not related to UltraMon, I had this "feature" with Windows itself on a single-display system.

Everything seems to work fine... one cosmetic bug new with rc1. I'm using Win2k, and the smart taskbar looks a little weird when a program is supposed to flash. You can see it here. That's the flash on state, it wraps around the name of the program rather than the whole button flashing.
Thanks!

bsod: thanks for the information.
Tom: I added this to make the flashed buttons stand out more, previously only the button text was flashed. Would you prefer the previous behavior? I'm not sure if I can get it to more closely match the Windows taskbar flashed look (at least not before 2.0 final).
I have added another Smart Taskbar bug fix to the release notes: wrong icon shown for some windows: this has been fixed on Windows XP, so far there is no fix for earlier systems

Well, I'd like the behavior to be as similar to Windows as possible... so the taskbar looks & feels just like a Windows one. It means you don't have to relearn things or wonder why stuff works that way.

I just noticed that the smart taskbar is now working on the third monitor, which is the TV out from the ATI 8500DV. It never did before on the older version.
