Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Problems: Smart Taskbar and Icon position

First of let me thank you for a great program.

Now the problems. When I first installed Ultra-mon the smart taskbar worked fine across my 3 monitors. After running Ultra-mon on only 2 monitors, while the 3rd was being repaired, and then going back to 3, the taskbar only appears on the second monitor.

Second problem is with saving the icon placement. It seems to work fine for 1 or 2 reboots but hen all of a sudden it will not remeber the settings.

Any light on these problems?

Thanks

To add a taskbar for the 3rd monitor, right-click the UltraMon taskbar and choose 'Add Taskbar for' from the menu.

If you are using Windows 98 or Me, you'll need to right-click the drag grip at the edge of the taskbar (this has been fixed for the next release).

Regarding the icons: please try if it works when restoring the icon positions manually. To do this, go to Options > General and click on 'Restore Now'. You can also add icon management options to the menu: Options > Customization, save/restore desktop icons.

Thanks I got my 3rd taskbar back.

Even clicking 'Restore Position' does not wqrk.
It seems that the whole saved list is gone.

Icon positions are stored in the registry under the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Saved Positions\Icons'. Please check if there are any entries there using a registry editor, for example regedit.exe.

The list exists un the registry. I just created an export of it, after placing the icons and saving the position, and will try impoting it back into the registry the next time the problem occurs.

Icons messed up again when I booted up. Tried using "Restore Position" from tray and they did not move. Restored the registry entry, that I had saved, and tried again. This time everything worked.

Not sure what causes this. Did you disable/enable secondary monitors before shutting down your system? This would cause UltraMon to save icon positions before disabling secondary monitors, and restore them when secondary monitors are re-enabled.

If you have the problem the next time, please export the icon positions to a .reg file, and send me both the good and bad .reg files. Might help with troubleshooting.
