Forums -> UltraMon™ -> UltraMon Taskbar on wrong monitor (with mon2 being primary)

WinXP unfortunately numbers my display devices in the wrong order. I have a GF4Ti4400, with a analog and a dvi output. my primary monitor is a digital lcd on the dvi, and the secondary is an analog monitor. Now for WinXP the analog port is the adapter 1, and DVI is adapter 2. I can tell XP that mon2 is the primary, so the taskbar etc. shows correctly. however, every time UltraMon starts up, it puts its smart taskbar on mon2, on top of the XP taskbar. So after every reboot, I have to add the UltraMon taskbar for mon1, and close it on mon2, which is kind of a nuisance.

is there any way to fix this behaviour in ultramon?

and additionally, is there any way to change which adapter XP numbers as 1, so I could actually make my primary (DVI) port adapter 1?

regards,
tom.

This should work fine, shouldn't matter what number is assigned to the primary monitor.

Please send me a copy of the Smart Taskbar registry key:

- open regedit.exe
- select the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\2.0\Smart Taskbar'
- choose File\Export from the menu to save the key and subkeys in a .reg file

Please also include the system information displayed on UltraMon's About dialog (UltraMon menu > About).

I end up having to close the extra taskbar when I start up every time, too. I don't have to worry about adding the additional one, though.

Thanks Christian... the solution is really quite simple ;) All you have to do is close UltraMon once you set it up correctly. Apparently UltraMon does not save it settings when being closed in a Windows shutdown, which I was expecting it to do, and might be a good idea actually to implement... So I never thought of having to shut it down manually to save the settings.

UltraMon should save the taskbar settings during shutdown, but it looks like this doesn't work reliably. I'll fix this in one of the next releases.
